This week I shot a county track meet and informal portraits of the broadcast staff.The boys county semi final track and field events were held at Mill Creek HS on Monday. Bruce Lennox and I shot stills and video. This material will be used in various GCPS productions including the Summer Leadership Conference (SLC). Tuesday I reviewed the material with Glenn Ballard.
Week 6
I managed to shoot a few informal portraits but mostly I attended staff meetings.
The Broadcast group is planning the final segments of the IN FOCUS and ParenTVision programs. They are also involved in promoting and producing various initiatives such as Strategic Priorities, Summer Leadership Conference (SLC), and the Media Festival. Next week I will be in classrooms shooting background photos and B roll video to support many of these activities.
Strategic Priorities is a short statement describing what the school board will emphasize in 2011-12, and it is particularly important given the fact the budget is 7½% less than the prior year. There are no staff reductions, there is a freeze on hiring and pay, and furlough days will continue. SLC is a series of short courses for teachers that are on track to move into supervisory positions. The Broadcast group enhanced interactive features of the SLC presentations (smartboards and other live technology). The Media Festival is open to all grades and consists of short student videos in many categories. Approximately 107 Gwinnett submissions were judged worthy to go to the state competition.
